Psalms 68: 1 – 6
None ever hardened his heart against GOD, and prospered.
GOD is the joy of His people, then let them rejoice when they come before Him. He who derives his being from none, but gives being to all, is engaged by promise and covenant to bless His people. HE is to be praised as a GOD of mercy and tender compassion. HE ever careth for the afflicted and oppressed: repenting sinners, who are helpless and exposed more than any fatherless children, are admitted into His family, and share all their blessings.

2 Kings 8: 1 – 15
2 Kings 8: 11 & 12
The man of GOD wept.
In a vision from the Spirit of revelation, Elisha saw that Hazael would become king of Syria and perpetrate terrible evil against Israel. Elisha wept because of what was coming upon Israel as a result of their apostasy. As a true man of GOD, he felt a deep sorrow both for GOD, who had been abandoned by His own people, and for those people who now had to suffer severe judgement for their sins. In the like manner JESUS wept over Jerusalem and Paul over the church .The words of Elisha do not endorse the future cruelty of Hazael, but only describe the terrible practices of depraved humans in times of war.

One thing is needful….
Although active, practical service to GOD is essential and good, our first and most important task is a love and devotion that expresses itself in quiet worship, prayer and fellowship with the LORD. Are we so busy doing the work of the LORD, attending Church services and performing good deeds that we forget the first and greatest commandment is to love the LORD our GOD Himself with all our hearts, souls, strength and mind.
