PSALMS
🎼
Psalms 105: 23 – 35 and 106: 1 – 18, 42 – 48

Psalms 106: 1 – 5
None of our sins or sufferings should prevent our ascribing glory and praise to the LORD. The more unworthy we are, the more is HIS kindness to be admired. And those who depend on the Redeemer’s righteousness will endeavour to copy HIS example, and by word and deed to show forth HIS praise. GOD’s people have reason to be cheerful people; and need not envy the children of men their pleasure or pride.

OLD TESTAMENT
🌈
Isaiah 17: 12 – 18: 7

Isaiah 18: 1
Ethiopia.
Ethiopia (or Cush, modern Sudan) was south of Egypt. Its king at that time ruled all of Egypt. He evidently had sent messengers to Israel in order to seek an alliance against Assyria. GOD Himself would defeat the Assyrian enemy in HIS own time. After the Assyrian defeat, the people of Cush would bring gifts to Jerusalem.

NEW TESTAMENT
✝️
2 Thessalonians 1: 1 – 12

2 Thessalonians 1: 5
The righteous judgement of GOD.
The Thessalonians were persevering in faith amid persecution and trials. Their attitude was a manifest token of GOD’s righteous judgement, meaning that GOD judged the Thessalonians to be worthy of HIS grace and the kingdom for which they were suffering. Their unjust suffering was also a sign that the persecutors in opposing GOD’s own people would experience GOD’s just retribution.
