Early will I seek THEE.
The true Christian devotes to GOD the morning hour. He opens the eyes of his understanding with those of his body, and awakes each morning to righteousness. He arises with a thirst after those comforts which the world cannot give, and has immediate recourse by prayer to the Fountain of the water of life. The true believer is convinced, that nothing in this sinful world can satisfy the wants and desires of his immortal soul; he expects his happiness from GOD, as his portion. When faith and hope are most in exercise, the world appears a weary desert, and the believer longs for the joys of heaven, of which he has some foretastes in the ordinances of GOD upon earth.
OLD TESTAMENT
π
Deuteronomy 15: 1 β 23
Deuteronomy 15: 13
Not let him go away empty.β
The Israelites were not allowed to send their slaves away without adequate provision. Love for others demanded that sufficient food and supplies be given tothem so that they could get by until they began to earn a living. Similarly, the principle of love and justice under the new covenant requires that we treat our employees with compassion, fairness, and justice.
NEW TESTAMENT
β
Romans 9: 6 β 18
Romans 9: 15
I will have mercy.
This verse emphasizes the freedom of GOD’s mercy. HIS overflowing active compassion cannot be earned if controlled by humans. In the end GOD has willed to have mercy not just upon the Jews, but also upon the Gentiles, all people alike.

PRAYER:
FATHER of love, In JESUS, YOU showed us the meaning of hospitality, by caring for our fragile humanity. Help us to become a community that welcomes those who feel abandoned and lost, building a house where all are welcome. May we come closer to one another as we offer the world YOUR unconditional love. This we pray in the unity of the HOLY SPIRIT.
Amen.
