Psalms 115; 116 and 117
Psalms 115: 1
Not unto us, but unto THY name give glory…
We must never seek glory for ourselves, but rather always desire to manifest GOD’s glory and honour HIS name before the world. We must determine to live in such a way that we will not bring shame or reproach upon the name of CHRIST or His church.β
OLD TESTAMENT
π
Jeremiah 49: 1 β 18
Jeremiah 49: 7
Edom.
The Edomites were descendants of Jacob’s twin brother Esau. Living in the mountainous region south of Dead Sea, they had a history of enmity and conflict with Israel. Edom’s great din was their pride and its fervent hatred of Israel.
NEW TESTAMENT
β
Acts 7: 44 β 8: 8
Acts 7: 55
Saw…JESUS standing…
The Bible normally speaks of JESUS as seated at the right hand of GOD. But here JESUS stood in order to welcome His first martyr to Himself. Stephen had confessed CHRIST before fellow humans and defended the faith. Now CHRIST, in honour of His servant, confesses Him before the HEAVENLY FATHER. For all faithful believers near death, the SAVIOUR stands ready to receive as your intercessor and advocate.
