PSALMS
🎼
Psalms 15 – 17
Psalms 16: 2
My goodness extendeth not to thee.
Apart from GOD, the psalmist sees no meaning in life and no personal happiness. Nothing in his life is good if the LORD’s presence and blessing are absent. Paul expressed this same truth when he said – For me to live is CHRIST.

OLD TESTAMENT
🌈
Judges 8: 18 – 9: 15
Judges 9: 4 & 5
Abimelech …slew his brethren. Threescore and ten persons.
The great tragedy of Gideon’s family was the result of Gideon’s polygamy. His concubine in Shechem gave birth to Abimelech, who later killed 70 of his brothers. Gideon had leadership ability on the battlefield, but not in his home. GOD, on the other hand, places great importance on the family. Under the new covenant, HE commands that no one be appointed as an overseer of GOD’s people who cannot manage himself or his household well.

NEW TESTAMENT
✝
1 Timothy 5: 1 – 16
1 Timothy 5: 5
She …in…Prayers night and day.
Widows who have given themselves to the supreme work of prayer should receive recognition and help from the church. One is reminded of Anna, who departed not from the temple but served GOD with fasting and prayers night and day. Early church called such a widow the intercessor of the church the keeper of the door and the altar of GOD.
