Psalms 86; 87 and 88
Psalms 87: 1 β 3
CHRIST HIMSELF is the Foundation of the church, which GOD has laid.
Holiness is the strength and firmness of the church. Let us not be ashamed of the church of CHRIST in its meanest condition, nor of those that belong to it, since such glorious things are spoken of it. Other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, even JESUS CHRIST. The glorious things spoken of Zion by the Spirit were all typical of CHRIST, and his work and offices; of the gospel church, its privileges and members; of heaven, its glory and perfect happiness.β
OLD TESTAMENT
π
Jeremiah 37: 1 β 21
Jeremiah 37: 17
Is there any word from the LORD?
Knowing that Jeremiah was a true prophet of the LORD, Zedekiah hoped for a more encouraging word from GOD. But Jeremiah’s word remained the same.
Jerusalem would fall and Zedekiah would be taken by the king of Babylon. The prophet would not compromise the truth even in such desperate circumstances.
NEW TESTAMENT
β
Acts 1: 1 β 14
Acts 1: 8
Ye shall receive power.
This is the key verse in the Book of Acts. The primary purpose of the baptism in the Spirit is the receiving of power to witness for CHRIST so that the lost will be one over to HIM and taught to obey all that CHRIST commanded. The end result is that CHRIST may be known, loved, praised and made LORD of GOD’s chosen people.
