Psalms 97 to 99
Psalms 97: 8 – 12
The faithful servants of GOD may well rejoice and be glad, because HE is glorified; and whatever tends to HIS honour, is His people’s pleasure. Care is taken for their safety. But something more is meant than their lives. The LORD will preserve the souls of His saints from sin, from apostasy, and despair, under their greatest trials. HE will deliver them out of the hands of the wicked one, and preserve them safe to HIS heavenly kingdom. And those that rejoice in CHRIST JESUS, and in HIS exaltation, have fountains of joy prepared for them. Those that sow in tears, shall reap in joy. Gladness is sure to the upright in heart; the joy of the hypocrite is but for a moment. Sinners tremble, but saints rejoice at GOD’s holiness. As HE hates sin, yet freely loves the person of the repentant sinner who believes in CHRIST, HE will make a final separation between the person HE loves and the sin HE hates, and sanctify His people wholly- body, soul, and spirit.
OLD TESTAMENT
🌈
Isaiah 14: 14 – 32
Isaiah 14: 28 – 32
Assurance is given of the destruction of the Philistines and their power, by famine and war. Hezekiah would be more terrible to them than Uzziah had been. Instead of rejoicing, there would be lamentation, for the whole land would be ruined. Such destruction will come upon the proud and rebellious, but the LORD founded Zion for a refuge to poor sinners, who flee from the wrath to come, and trust in HIS mercy through CHRIST JESUS. Let us tell all around of our comforts and security, and exhort them to seek the same refuge and salvation.

1 Thessalonians 2: 13 – 3: 13
1 Thessalonians 3: 13
Unblameable in holiness…at the coming.
Paul often prayed with the LORD JESUS return in mind. He considered it a tragedy if at the LORD’s return some within the Church were caught living in sin or luke-warmness. JESUS emphasized this same concern. In light of CHRIST’s return the Biblical standard is to be unblameable in holiness. We must be wholeheartedly committed to the LORD and separated from all that which offends HIM. The phrase with all his saints refers to departed saints who are already with the LORD.
Away in an obscure corner of Asia Minor, the greatest event of world’s history had taken place: The advent of Jesus Christ and the founding of the Christian Church.
