Psalms 25 to 28
Psalms 25: 8 – 14
We are all sinners; and CHRIST came into the world to save sinners, to teach sinners, to call sinners to repentance. We value a promise by the character of HIM that makes it; we therefore depend upon GOD’s promises. All the paths of the LORD, that is, all HIS promises and all HIS providences, are mercy and truth. In all GOD’s dealings His people may see HIS mercy displayed, and HIS word fulfilled, whatever afflictions they are now exercised with.
All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth; and so it will appear when they come to their journey’s end. Those that are humble, that distrust themselves, and desire to be taught and to follow DIVINE guidance, these HE will guide in judgment, that is, by the rule of the written Word, to find rest for their souls in the SAVIOUR. Even when the body is sick, and in pain, the soul may be at ease in GOD.
OLD TESTAMENT
🌈
Daniel 4: 10 – 27
Daniel 4: 17
The MOST HIGH ruleth.
The king needed to learn that the LORD GOD is all – powerful and can place whomsoever HE wants over the kingdoms of the world.
Daniel 4: 27
Break off thy sins by righteousness.
The very fact that Daniel called for the king to repent indicates that GOD’s terrible judgment could be avoided. If Nebuchadnezzar would forsake his sins and turn to righteous lifestyle, showing mercy to the poor and downtrodden whom he had oppressed, GOD would not carry out what HE had revealed in the dream.
NEW TESTAMENT
✝️
1 Corinthians 9: 15 – 27
1 Corinthians 9: 19
I made myself servant unto all.
Paul uses himself as an example of the principle of self-denial for the sake of others. He renounces his rights out of sympathetic consideration for the convictions of others. In order not to limit his ministry or hinder the gospel. This practice does not mean that Paul compromises Christian principles or seeks to please others for the purpose of winning their esteem. What he affirms is that he is prepared to confirm to the convictions of those whom he is trying to help, provided Christian principles are not violated. He understands that if he offends others by disregarding the conviction of their conscience his ministry to them for CHRIST’s sake could be seriously hindered.
