Psalms 52 to 54

Psalms 52: 1 – 5
Those that glory in sin, glory in their shame.

The patience and forbearance of GOD are abused by sinners, to the hardening of their hearts in their wicked ways. But the enemies in vain boast in their mischief, while we have GOD’s mercy to trust in. It will not save us from the guilt of lying, to be able to say, there was some truth in what we said, if we make it appear otherwise than it was. The more there is of craft and contrivance in any wickedness, the more there is of satan in it. When good men die, they are transplanted from the land of the living on earth, to heaven, the garden of the LORD, where they shall take root for ever; but when wicked men die, they are rooted out, to perish for ever. The believer sees that GOD will destroy those who make not HIM their strength.

OLD TESTAMENT
🌈
2 Kings 4: 18 – 44

2 Kings 4: 38 – 44
A dearth in the land.

These two narratives concerning the needs of the sons of the prophets illustrates the truth that the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him. Upon them that hope in HIS mercy. To deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine. The remnant who remain faithful to GOD’s Word are under the special care of the LORD.

NEW TESTAMENT
✝️
Mark 8: 34 – 9: 8

Mark 9: 1 – 13
Here is a prediction of the near approach CHRIST’s kingdom.

A glimpse of that kingdom was given in the transfiguration of CHRIST. It is good to be away from the world, and alone with CHRIST: and how good to be with CHRIST glorified in heaven with all the saints! But when it is well with us, we are apt not to care for others, and in the fullness of our enjoyments, we forget the many wants of our brethren. GOD owns JESUS, and accepts HIM as HIS BELOVED SON, and is ready to accept us in HIM. Therefore we must own and accept HIM as our beloved SAVIOUR, and must give up ourselves to be ruled by HIM. CHRIST does not leave the soul, when joys and comforts leave it. JESUS explained to the disciples the prophecy about Elias. This was very suitable to the ill usage of John Baptist.
