PSALMS
🎼
Psalms 136, 137: 1 – 6 and Psalm 138
Forgetful as we are, things must be often repeated to us.

By “mercy” we understand the LORD’s disposition to save those whom sin has rendered miserable and vile, and all the provision he has made for the redemption of sinners by JESUS CHRIST. The counsels of this mercy have been from everlasting, and the effects of it will endure for ever, to all who are interested in it. The LORD continues equally ready to show mercy to all who seek for it, and this is the source of all our hope and comfort.

OLD TESTAMENT
🌈
1 Kings 12: 15 – 33

1 Kings 12: 24
For this thing is from me.

It was the LORD who brought about the division of His people.
He designed the existence of two nations

  1. As a punishment for their idolatry, and
  2. As a means for preserving a faithful remnant through Judah .Though Israel as a whole departed from GOD, a remnant in Judah remained faithful to the covenant, and through them GOD was able to fulfil HIS promises of a Davidic Messiah and redemption.

NEW TESTAMENT
✝️
Matthew 28: 1 – 20

Matthew 28: 18
All power GOD’s people are promised- authority and power to proclaim the gospel throughout the world. But first they must obey JESUS command to wait for the promise of the FATHER, which is the power of the HOLY SPIRIT at Pentecost. We cannot expect the power to accompany our going to the nations without first following Acts 1:4 wait for the promise of the FATHER.
