PSALMS
π
Psalms 136; 137: 1 β 6 and 138
Psalms 137: 1 β 5
Their enemies had carried the Jews captive from their own land.
To complete their woes, they insulted over them; they required of them mirth and a song. This was very barbarous; also profane, for no songs would serve but the songs of Zion. Scoffers are not to be compiled with. They do not say, How shall we sing, when we are so much in sorrow? But, it is the LORD’s song, therefore we dare not sing it among idolaters.
OLD TESTAMENT
π
Nehemiah 7: 46 β 8: 8
Nehemiah 8: 3
All the people were attentive unto the book of the law.
The revival was initiated by a sincere return to GOD’s Word and a diligent effort to understand its meaning. For seven days, six hours each day, Ezra read from the book of the law. One of the foremost evidences of true revival among GOD’s people is a deep hunger to hear and to read GOD’s Word.
NEW TESTAMENT
β
Revelation 5: 9 β 6: 8
Revelation 6: 1
The Lamb opened.
JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF opens all the seals, which disclose GOD’s end-time judgements in the earth. Throughout the book of Revelation, the plague judgements are called the wrath of GOD.
Away in an obscure corner of Asia Minor, the greatest event of worldβs history had taken place: The advent of Jesus Christ and the founding of the Christian Church.
