Psalms 18
This psalm we met with before, in the history of David’s life, 2 Samuel 22. That was the first edition of it; here we have it revived, altered a little, and fitted for the service of the church.
It is David’s thanksgiving for the many deliverances GOD had wrought for him; these he desired always to preserve fresh in his own memory and to diffuse and entail the knowledge of them. It is an admirable composition. The poetry is very fine, the images are bold, the expressions lofty, and every word is proper and significant; but the piety far exceeds the poetry.
Holy faith, and love, and joy, and praise, and hope, are here lively, active, and upon the wing.
I. He triumphs in GOD (verses 1 to 3).
II. He magnifies the deliverances GOD had wrought for him (verses 4 to 19).
III. He takes the comfort of his integrity, which GOD had thereby cleared up (verses 20 to 28).
IV. He gives to GOD the glory of all his achievements (verses 29 to 42).
V. He encourages himself with the expectation of what GOD would further do for him and his descendants (verses 43 to 50).

2 Chronicles 13: 1 – 22
2 Chronicles 13: 1
Abijah began to reign over Judah…
Chronicles record the victory of Abijah because he and the men of Judah relied on GOD. The author of kings does not record the incident, however states that Abijah walked in all the sins of his father. Chronicles wanted to emphasize the exceptional moments of faith and obedience in order to show Israel that GOD would help and deliver if they trusted and obeyed.

John 19: 31 – 42
John 19: 41
New sepulchre…
The tomb had been hewn out of solid rock. It was probably large enough to walk into, but with a low entrance. After placing the body of JESUS in the tomb, Joseph rolled a big stone in front of its entrance.

Away in an obscure corner of Asia Minor, the greatest event of world’s history had taken place: The advent of Jesus Christ and the founding of the Christian Church.
